On January 10, Tyre Nichols was killed at the hands of five Memphis police officers, in yet another routine traffic stop that ended in murder. Like other Memphians, I am anguished. I extend my prayers and deepest condolences to his parents and family for their loss. As neighbors and friends, we must come together in peace, demanding justice for Tyre and a different approach to law enforcement, so that our young men do not continue to have their lives reduced to tragedies and statistics.
